I think you downloaded an incorrect file then. Use the link I gave you, it should work flawlessly.

Question A question about step 2

    great guide Jeutie, again
a quick question about step 2, you remove the "install as service" tickbox,
but if I use mysql workbench, it can't manage the DB unless it is running as a service??, can i not leave the service running? how does that affect things?
    Many thanks

Having it as a service won't really work for being portable. If you do not need the MySQL to be portable. (e.g: not for in a repack.) it will affect nothing at all.

hi all my first try to compile follow jeuite guide and i got this

CMake Error: CMake was unable to find a build program corresponding to "Visual Studio 10". CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM is not set. You probably need to select a different build tool.
CMake Error: Could not find cmake module file: C:/TribityEXE/CMakeFiles/2.8.12.1/CMakeCCompiler.cmake
CMake Error: Could not find cmake module file: C:/TribityEXE/CMakeFiles/2.8.12.1/CMakeCXXCompiler.cmake
    Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!

souce folder and destination are made like the guide say and got this error i downloaded the file that say missing no way i have create folder named as the error say but still errors.
i know i made some stupid errors but i dont know how to solve it, i made many try changin directory tool i have tryed anythig but not the right thing lol

Question is why mysql should be portable tough.

    IMHO:
The best way of making repacks was when databases were released as .sql with a core, (then to make it better, include src).

Indeed. If Jeutie still had been here on AC-web, your post would make him smile.

I will need to test this tutorial on new MySQL 5.6.25 or maybe even 5.7 to see if it still works.

Tried to upgrade a 5.5.9 portable server manually around Easter time, had no luck then.
(But that was before I had read this tutorial, so I guess I could try again.)
