the typical speeding ticket is roughly 80 dollar fine, defensive driving course to remove points is 50 and the amount of gas saved by keeping the vehicle in a larger gear is typically 3 gallons for every 15-20 gallons depending on the vehicle, so depending on how often you get pulled over is it actually cheaper to speed or is it cheaper to stay under 35? this is of course assuming your gear ratio puts your vehicle in over drive at 40.

Damn that is a pretty high gas price. In Rhode Island we only pay about $2.60-$2.85, and sometimes $3.00.

I consider that a high gas price in usa. But $7.50 that's insane to pay per gallon. you are probably better off taking a bus.

No you guys didn't, In the villeges surounding my town, the prices were at 15.00+ a gallon. Now that the prices dropped a bit, they are sitting around 10.00 a gallon.

California's gas price is around 3.15 average. In my city, my uncle's gas station is the cheapest. I think he's at 3.00 or 2.99 right now.

I've done 90+ in a 65 and gotten the ticket for it :^/ I wasnt trying to brag.... honestly I wish I hadnt done any of the speeding I did do, you'd be suprised what such simple things can actually cost you. the question wasnt because I got a speeding ticket, was just a thought I had about the logistics of getting and paying for a speeding ticket + paying for the defensive driving course.....

ok lets break it down like this
a) speed to keep the car in a higher gear to save gas, get the ticket, pay for the ticket, pay for the defensive driving course to remove points
b) drive the speed limit and burn more gas

When my brother and I were outa town visiting our cousin, he was like omg 2.60 a gallon... Lol we were happy to pay for that. $25.00 to fill his tank, Rofl In my town were going 70-80 to fill the car up.
