[Guide] Setting a Forum Up.

Im going to show you how to install your forum. Also, Im going to show you how to change what type of forum you have.


Step One.
Make sure mysql AND apache are running.


Step Two.
Open up your internet browser and type this in

http://Yourdns/forum/install
If that doesn't bring you to the forum installation page then type this in.
http://Yourdns/forum/


Step Three.
It brings you to the installation page, It looks like this.

Click on the install tab.

Step Four.
It brings you to a new page. Click on "Proceed to next Step." at the bottom right of the screen.

Step Five
Scroll down until your at the bottom of the page and click "Start Install".
Then it tells you to fill out the information. make it like this.

Database Type ----- Mysql
Database server hostname or DSN ----- Your dns
Database Server port ----- 3306 or leave it empty
Database name ----- Forum
Database username ----- Your Database username (Default is root)
Database password ----- Your Database password (Default is ascent)
Prefix for tables in database ----- phpbb_

Step Six
Go to the next page "Administrator configuration"
Make it look like this.
Default board language -----British English
Administrator username ----- Logon name to get on your forum/administrator panel
Administrator password ----- Logon password to get on your forum/administrator panel
Confirm administrator password: ----- Password you put above
Contact e-mail address ----- Put your email address
Confirm contact e-mail ----- Confirm your email address

Step Seven
Click on "Proceed to next Step". Then it brings you to a page that tells you if you have entered the correct information. Click on "Proceed to next Step" again. If it doesn't let you then make sure your info is correct.

Step Eight
It brings you to ANOTHER page that says "The configuration file has been written. You may now proceed to the next step of the installation."
Click on "Proceed to next Step".

Step Nine
It brings you to a page with all these different options. Just scroll down to the bottom and click "Proceed to next Step"

Step Ten
It brings some text up...Click "Proceed to next Step"

Step Eleven
It then says Congratulations!

You have now successfully installed phpBB 3.0.0. From here, you have two options as to what to do with your newly installed phpBB3:

Convert an existing board to phpBB3
The phpBB Unified Convertor Framework supports the conversion of phpBB 2.0.x and other board systems to phpBB3. If you have an existing board that you wish to convert, please proceed on to the convertor.

Go live with your phpBB3!
Clicking the button below will take you to your Administration Control Panel (ACP). Take some time to examine the options available to you. Remember that help is available online via the Documentation and the support forums, see the README for further information.

Please now delete, move or rename the install directory before you use your board. If this directory is still present, only the Administration Control Panel (ACP) will be accessible.

You just installed your own forum! Now click on "Login".

Step Twelve
Open C:/Ac web ultimate repack/server/htdocs/forum and delete the folder Install. Now you can access your forum, and do everything you need to with it!


Installing other types of Forums


Phpbb3 is the default forum that comes with the ac-web ultimate repack. There are many other types such as Ipb, Vbulletin, and Web wiz. If you decide to get one of these download it, and replace all the folders and files with it in the forums folder. Then follow pretty much the same steps as you did above but it is sort of different.

Man do u read? i said i FOLLOWED and i deleted install folder and i cannoot coonnect to my forum.

You need to set up your configuration files in htdocs...is mysql running

Thats because it already needs to be set-up before you do it. You confogure your site THEN make a forum

yeye ofc...

when i put over there "MYSQL" it says

Could not connect to the database, see error message below.

when i am installing,and when i put "SQLITE"then its ok

Im confused is their a reason that when i put in the mydns/forum part in mu url that it should say:

Object not found!
The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

there are only two themes. you have to download the other ones from another website.

phpbb3 comes with the default 2. download others in torrents or other sites like the phpbb site. then follow the guides on their site. thats how i got it

I got same problem! What we must do?

Make sure mysql is running. What do you mean it was empty? Only way for that to happen is if you delete it.


Im not sure on how to add a rep system and all that...Vbuletin and IPB have it installed though

ugh i tried to do it as SQL lite and it doest work, How do i change it?

EDIT: i changed to Mysql and says the same thing. (Mysql is running, so is apache and everything)

I get that error when I'm finished...
At the beggining I picked "SQlite" because MySQL normally doesn't work when I'm trying to install, SQlite is the only one that works for me, I'm not sure how to fix :(
BTW I'm using repack 7.7, 2.4.1, HeidiSQL, (MySQL, Logon, Ascentx2, apache running) and Hamachi server..

clain when i try to follow the tutorial, i receive this error message on step 5:

Now im using a repack, i ..think my Apache is configured properly cause when i go to my site assigned by DynDNS i can see everything on my other machines (gfx text etc)

i am trying to learn all this, its just taking time to sink i guess.
