A while back I got a text message that I would like to share with you all; it reads:

"if we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists. You are proud to be black, brown, yellowand orange and you're not afraid to announce it. But when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society you call him a racist. I am proud... but you call me a racist... Why is it that only whites can be racists?? There is nothing improper about this text message... Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves! BE PROUD TO BE WHITE!! It's not a crime YET... but getting very close!"

I agree with the text and I did send it to everyone on my contacts list. I feel that, as a race, we (Caucasians) have become so afraid of offending other people that we no longer stand up for ourselves. It has almost become a bad thing to be white and enjoy it, it's as if you have to hate your skin and heritage. Why can't we be proud to be white? There is nothing wrong with it! Also, like the text says, I think the word racist is thrown around too much, it is often used incorrectly but its impact on how the community looks at you lasts forever. We all see things like "Black Pride" and "Native Pride" but something saying "White Pride" is considered a KKK Neo-Nazi threat. When did it become bad to be white and love yourself? I want to hear what all of you out there at AC-Web think and have to say about this text message, I want to hear your opinions and arguements on the matter. Does anyone else feel the way that I and whoever made this text message do? Please respond everybody who has an opinion or thought or comment on the matter! ^^

I'm just relieved that so many others feel this way. Whenever I tried to explain this to my parents or a friend, they'd tell me I was a racist redneck. So I spent a large part of my life thinking I was racist and that I was a bad person and practically hating myself when all along I was never really racist at all. I hope other people out there can read this text message and see this post and see that they are not alone. No one should feel that ugly and full of self-loathing that I went through, and I hope by reading this they know that they are not alone, that they are not racist and that there is nothing wrong with their thoughts.

The title "racist" is thrown around too much. Not to sound "racist" but minorities use it as a crutch. If you don't do what they want, they could call you racist and even though all evidence points to you not being a racist, your life is still pretty much fucked. I heard that this one girl at my school moved because some African American guy called her a racist after she wouldn't sleep with him, they weren't even going out. A minority group is a group with less of a percentage in something. Blacks and Hispanics are minorities because there aren't as many as "white people".

I agree with nexus and ender, unless you show us proof that it did happen, it seems unlikely that 6000 offered jobs would be turned down by unemployed people looking for work. If someone is unemployed and wants a job, they will do just about anything. It's like sink or swim in this economy, if they are unemployed they can't just sit around and wait for things to get better, most people know that only they can make a difference in their life so most people actively search for jobs.

I'm not sure what the numbers are, but are the minorities we think of still considered minorities in todays America?

So even if whites were physically the minority in the country, we would be forced to take the title of "big, bad majoirty" just to keep the minorities (which would actually be the majority) happy?

And yeah, I agree that yes slavery was bad but none of the current Caucasians are responsible for it because none of us were alive. I think it has something to do with cultural respect and diversity. Rather then just be American they take it a step further and become part of a different group, African American. Everyone likes to feel accepted in a group while at the same time being different then everyone else.
