i finally got it to work :D
here is the model i made in Maya

damn took awhile before i got it imported xD .. even broke WoW once so i needed to reinstall it :P

you need too just put the patch-3.MPQ file in your WoW/data folder and it works. Putting it there won't change anything to WoW accept 1 skin of a sword.
this skin replaces the Vindicator's Brand you can get by getting exalted with Aldor.

Nice dude. Can you please help me to learn it too! I want to make stuff like these too! I can make it in maya yea but i dunno how to save it or how to put it on wow. Btw can other people see it like that too when i put it in my server or my folder?

hey, can someone give me a model editor or whatever ? i want to make 1, and dont have an updated 1 anymore, i last made was 7 months ago.

Xerex.. thy have to get a patch to see the change. otherwise it will look like what ever sword he overwrote.. only effects those with the patch. to my understanding

you make model with program like 3DSMax or maya and than import it to wow's .mpq files
i dont remeber the name of .mpq browser so google it

hehe thanks and ya szela is right ... only the people that downloaded the patch are able to see the item this way .. and szela nothing is to big for a gnome ;D
and for those interested i suggest you browse this forum (sorry jargs but this really is a good place to get information about this stuff and i don't mean it as advertisement).

i used a few programs .. but do expect to stress and pull hairs out of your head the first time :P
as for the maya users .. first turn on your export obj plugin. then import that into 3ds max .. and there put export it too .3ds

Maya is NOT easy to learn guys...
It's not like photoshop. This is really well done & I think we really DO need some fist weapons =)
I have been dying to make a nice fist character O_O

lawl .. fist char kinky ggace ;D that just sounded to wrong
but ggace is right .. especially wen you never worked with 3d .. your really gonna have a hard time producing something desent.
ow btw here is the model of my fist weapon .. i have yet to UV and texture it .. but so far so good .. only bad point ... 1700 triangles xD .. thats like 2 times our wow char :P .. i might reduce it a little xD

maya is a professional tool! I'm using it for movies and other stuff and it's not that hard lol!

well at school i am getting my taught by a man who is really well known in the game industry. he was art director for the game full spectrum warrior (and did loads of other stuff). I am so lucky he is teaching at my school.. but just making a simple model ain't that hard .. but we get to learn to model the good way ..we always need to have perfect geometry. which is harder then you think :P. we can have no N-gons .. no lamina faces. no twisted normals and the list goes on and on and on xD. its pretty hard core at my school xD .. i don't have that much free time left anymore because of that :P.
anyways wen i am done with the fist weapon i am gonna make this one :D
