Any who, i'm a little curious tonight and I really want to see others views on this.

What is the big thing about Woman being on the internet? I've only been doing stuff like this for about the past year and about Two months ago I started to really get involved in forums like this. Since that time, I've always gotten the 'Go away tranny.' line. Though, I've never once questioned any Male on the forums that I've been around. It doesn't make me angry in any way. Clearly I wouldn't be friends with those that talk like that. They all seem so childish. You wouldn't watch a Woman's Softball game and tell someone there a tranny, would you? It's not to hurtful but it is childish. Though, I'm sure none of you really care that much about feelings around here to much. I don't mind it because I'm really good at ignoring people but, It can sometimes hurt others.

I'm just curious. What are your personal thoughts on this? Do you truly believe that Woman are not around and some of us enjoy the same things that would be a 'Male Dominant' area of.. Whatever you want to call it. Hobby?

My other question is, why do you question it? Is it because you are interested in the person? Is it because you want extra attention? I'm not sure, so I really want to hear your opinions.

I actually really enjoy this game for the people I get to meet and talk to. I can honestly admit, I'm really bad at World of Warcraft and I learned earlier that Call of Duty isn't my strong spot either.

And this is emulation forum, Wich women doenst understand you just come....And i altso Bet that you dont even know how to compile a server from scrath. On a serious note, it's because there have been (and there still are) many people claiming to be woman on the Internet to get more attention or to get benefits.
Didn't you notice that there are lots of wussies around you in real life? You know those guys who are always nice to you, etc. The same works on the Internet when they think you are a female, and that can be abused as I said.
Sometimes I question the gender of those who claim to be female, but usually that's joking, since I don't really care, since we are not going to meet in real life anyways.
I'm fortunately not that wussy type so I am not nice (disregarding some common courtesy) to stranger women, especially not on the Internet, but then again I'm a grown up not a 13yr old like most people here.
When teenagers question your gender on the Internet that's usually due to them reading too much 4chan and derived sites.

I think alot of it comes down to levels of attention and the desire of no longer being alone. Gaming, lets face it, is highly male dominant, so too are the forums. When the opposite gender approaches any dominant gender's field of interest they cant help but take notice and give attention. Why? because thats human nature, we associate and communicate through the things that we enjoy, or in many cases things they hate. Both represent a severe emotional response to something, and thus, when you see someone who has that same response it makes us wonder what else about ourselves they understand.
This is true with most things, and it goes both ways. For example, women tend to flock to me once they find out that I'm an excellent chef.

Theres also the more obvious reason, as many people desire this level of attention, they will pretend to be the opposite sex. Not sure how often this happens with women, but men pretend they're women on forums or in game all the time, such occurances have died down heavily due to voice communication but its still out there. Some believe thats the only way to get the level of attention they need.

For all of us to spend time in forums like these means that we're either lonely on some level or another, or bored out of our minds, and often times both. The same is true with gaming and other forms of entertainment that offer an escape from the world.

Lets take an out of scope look at it..
If you're a rock climber, and you meet another rock climber out in the middle of the happy spot that you thought nobody else knew about, you're naturally going to strike up a conversation (as rock climbers are naturally out going). You'll share stories and likely get together after that point to climb your other favorite rock climbing spots, should they be of opposite sex you combine that interest with the human need to procreate, the physical sex appeal, sweat from the job at hand, and accomplishing a goal together and bam!
While not entirely the same thing, I believe the philosophy is sound.

To be honest I've never heard of the 'go away tranny' thing before, I'm not sure on how common that is for you or anyone else but I do find it quite disrespectful. There are many societies on our planet that still look at women with a certain hatred and ignorance, its possible this could be the cause of alot of that. Its also quite possible that these people are just duchebags.
Its always been my understanding that, although cautious of such, woman (gamers if you will) are often welcomed and highly sought after, which also has the effect of scaring them off occasionally, thus adding to the low pop of female gamers.

lisa, this is actually really interesting as i was talking with a girl, and we were talking about how woman usually feel uncomfortable to speak in vents, and this kind off relates to it.

my view of your topic is that men, *not me* usually do not meet female's on the internet and when they do they don't know what to say and all they know they say is like, why you play games etc etc.

and than you have the jerks as mentioned above that think woman have less equality than men like the old times, there will always be this though in the men's mind that reminds them off the time that female's did all the house/babystting work.
-->some female's really dont help either, if you think about it mostly its always been the mothers, girlfriends or wifes that have been cleaning up the house and not the men, although woman have equal rights, there always be those old times and not everything changes as soon as government decide to say it changes, it takes time.
