Well first off, I'd like to congratulate all you little kiddies on how far you have come. I remember when me and Prophet X were the only active posters in this section. Even before this section, when we only had general chat.

Well now that I'm done with that, the title is pretty much self-explanatory. Who in your opinion has had the greatest

impact/influence on history. This is not limited to individuals, it can be a group or culture (ie. Roman culture or Byzantine/Greek

Orthodox Church). Also, this doesn't have to a be a positive impact, it can be negative as well (ie. Hitler or Vlad Tepes).

they are asked this question.

don't foget Ivan the Terrible. haha, we had a goot laugh. If it weren't for us, you wouldn't have the struggles ahead of a possible hot war. You wouldn't have the delema with us getting the Arctic pole before you do (after all, we already planted our flag). You wouldn't have a huge threatening enemy.... oh wait. Well, never mind then. We are still better than you, and that's what counts.

That is true. I'd argue it's more-so the 'icon' of such a man that people follow which influences so many millions of lives today.

xtavie

Icon or person, it's still undebatable that he, individually, had the greatest impact as history.

Obama is still having a huge impact on history. Granted it isn't positive.

In my opinion, in the grand scheme of things, Obama's impact is insignificant.

hmm they are like on the way that they want to take down all the palastines population as hitler wanted to do with the jews. thats my wiew on this case, the iraeli signed the peace contract in the oslo contract and after that broke it and made more war on the palestina. i dont see them otherways than the nazis, both hated a ethnic group and tried to obliterate them.

The reason for the attack on Palestine was because they were experiencing terrorist attacks from that region on a daily basis.

OUT OF POINT - i think.
well i would think the church. it gave rise to the de la salle brothers the jesuits and almost all communities that are "good". remember they are only good because the church says that if they are good they will go to heaven. you think that they would be good otherwise? human nature is evil while god is good. so he tries to save us despite the futility. the church is the "personalisation" of god on earth, if god even is a being. I believe however that he is more than anything we can fathom.

To me, the ultimate impact on the history of the world, 100% belongs to Jesus Christ. I myself don't believe in God, Jesus, or any of that other sort of stuff.

However, there have been more wars over religion and people trying 'Follow the right path' and 'Be more Christ like' than likely any other greater influence in the history of humans.

Breaking it down, when it comes to government, economic, and battle structure, I give the greatest impact on this subject to the Greeks. The scholars from Greece in ancient times were far ahead of their time.

When it comes to who had the greatest impact on aviation in the history of humans, the Wright brothers may have flown the first airplane, but I believe that Howard Hughes had the greatest impact on aviation. It's to bad he was practically taken over by OCD. He was another great person, far ahead of their time.

Then, being who I am, when it comes to fashion, I believe Gucci has had the greatest impact in history. ;)

Because, now many people think they can take over the work by being violent...

I'm not knocking anyone over, since it's an thread to express your opinion, but why do so many people suggest the Nazi?
I mean, if you look at human history as an whole, the last century is such a tiny fraction.

If you're already suggesting Nazis, why not the Mongols or Alexander the Great as well?

I tend to disagree, although I'd also nominate a religious entity.
I'd say the Catholic church has had the greatest impact on history.
They stole hundreds of years of advancement from mankind, by prosecuting scientists, calling them heretics and blasphemers, and killing them.

I would say religion. Just look at our history. Just guess how many lives that have ben taken? Just look at Islam, people are blowing them self up killing normal people. Just because they wanna "protect" there religion. Really, how stupid can you get? Blow your self up to kill 100 of lives because you wanna protect your religion?

Your right in that, but i must say Carthage had better strategies and better trained troop. They did nearly winn against the romans self they had 2-3 times less armies.

But i will change my thinking, i do think Djengis Khan made the biggest and greatest impact on history , he conquered and build the worlds biggest empire from a poor country made bye tribes.

Xtavie, ive read many of your posts and you are a gifted intellectual, but your statement here is not the whole truth, Israel as a country that was formed in PALESTINE, it was accorded some land, however with now numerous excuses, israel has been inching little by little into palestinian land since their inception..

so i must ask only one question....were the native americans wrong to fight the colonists?
