If you were given the chance to live forever, without aging and you get to be invincible, would you take it?

Note: You do not get super strength.

Btw, I would. :P

no, everyone has to die one day.

well live forever first time when u think about it , its great but with some more thinking it sucks and its boring....watching so many people die,.ect,.

Ooberstan
05-15-2009, 06:58 PM
No. I wouldn't because I couldn't watch my family and friends die. That in itself would be worse than dieing in my own opinion. I think it would also suck having to live through the stuff we are living through now (economy..global warming etc..). I just wanna die and get this over with. Haha.

I would not take this. As almost everyone has said in this thread you have to die some day and when that day comes, you better be ready. Some people are not ready and it hits them sooo quickly and I would not set there and take everything for granted. Some people might take the aging part so they won't have to use all the make-up.
But my answer is no.

It depends on what I would have to trade for it.
To be honest, I know it sounds cruel, but I wouldn't mind having to see all my love ones pass on before me.
Think of how much knowledge you'd have!
Your life would be limitless, think of the things you could achieve!
I would be the Lestat of the modern world! Wewt!

^lol
If it actually came to the decision, I probably wouldn't, but it would be a tough decision I think.

i probably would not cause what if you went to jail for life? you would stay their for the rest of eternity or if you get broken out lulz

I'd take it without a doubt.

If I were immortal, I would be able to do so much more than I ever thought possible, my studies would be in all fields, I would eventually end up doing everything I wanted to and so much more.

As for Wowenable's scare, Remember that people die, so they would not remember that you are supposed to be in for life, thus getting released.

I wouldn't do it I think, cause even if you don't see the arguments already said in this thread I think it would be boring to live that long.
If you lived for say 200-300 years I mean what would you do?
And to know that it would never end would get a lot of people very depressed I think.

But it is a nice thought if you think of all the things you can learn and all the places you can visit.

But my answer is still no, maybe if you add to it that I can finish my life when ever I want with suicide.
Then I would start to consider it.

I'm optimistic about immortality, if nothing can kill me and I never die of old age, I'll take it, by the time everyone is dying, I can take over the world and pretty much play god.

I'd decline it. You may live forever but you'd have to watch nations and their people die.. And I'm sure if you ever tried committing a crime, you'd suffer, because you wouldn't be able to die, but you would be able to feel pain. So I would decline it..

And, you'd have to know all the people you've come to know and love will die while you live.

Diablothein
05-16-2009, 02:34 AM
I'm willing to give up a bad thing, as for nations and people die, well, If I were immortal, or not, nothing would change, people still die, nations still fall.

The United States Major Stockholder is China, at over 75%. Bam, We live in the People's Republic of the United States.

Yes, but some people won't live to see it.

To me, being immortal makes you lose almost everything..

Diablothein
05-16-2009, 02:43 AM
It's not a fair existence we are put to, to give up almost everything is to gain so much more. To be the one who would have had a firsthand experience of all the events of the past, and see the future.

No I would not take the offer. it's stupid since, all your family wiill age and die and you'll be stuck alive. And you can try and kill yourself from it you'll end up not being able to do it since you'd stuck alive

If I was immortal I'd get bored. It's like playing a game on God mode... Fun for a little while, but without a challenge you just lose interest.

I was going to say I would.. But Dang, that would bring whole new levels of torture among you... Tell you what I'd be loaded with weapons and eh.. no clue
(I was going to say I'd work for the US. Army but, then I remembered how stupid and nosy they are soo... never mind)

Yeah I'd take it, I'd make sure I was never captured.. If I was being arrested I'd pull the pin out of a grenade in my pocket ;P

p.s. by immortality would I be immune to the 'lethal shot' or w/e

Edit: After thinking 10seconds after my post who would want to live for trillions and trillions of Years? I'd go with 1000 years or so with immortality but no more than that

Foxx
05-16-2009, 03:40 AM
No i wont take it.

Diablothein
05-17-2009, 04:05 AM
Torture would mean nothing if a person was immortal, it would end up being classified as masochistic, since you'd not feel any pain when being tortured.

master211996
05-17-2009, 04:22 AM
It depends if I have to give up something, if I had to give up someone I love I wouldn't I would die rather than kill someone for something like immortality. Also, I wouldn't because it would be so agonizing seeing all the ones I love die...

Answer = NO....

You'd still be giving everyone up, you'd outlive them, as for me, I stopped caring about life a long time ago, so it does not matter to me.

Well immortality isn't all that exciting anyway. I mean in some times of your life, you would wish you could die, but could not since you have the immortality, meaning you would lead a life of no ending, until everyone in the world goes insane and starts a nuclear war. But until that time comes. You will not see an end to a no ending life, and even grow bored of the world by then.

It's been said many times within this thread however I agree with the concept "everyone has to die at some point"

What if we could escape the "everyone has to die at some point". Would you take it?

Sithlord789
05-25-2009, 11:06 AM
(Is answering for the Topic, not the question above my post XD)

I Would, Well You would have no Fears, and you could do anything you want (Police can't Arrest someone who can't be shot, cause there is no fear of death knowing it doesn't exist for you) Also, You would have millions of choices throughout your lives, and you can learn from your mistakes that you may make in the past, and you would get to see History Unfold as well.

So i would take it, but you would still feel Pain (Personally) because you would watch your Family die.

jcdock
05-26-2009, 08:15 AM
There is no way I would take it, Imagine how much it would suck to watch all your friends die, you children ( if you have them ) die, everyone you love/have love/ will ever love die and you stay the same.

It would drive me insane and you couldn't kill yourself because your immortal

Nell
05-26-2009, 08:35 AM
Not me, The way it's going now the immortal would end up alone in a nuclear warzone >.<

i would like to have immortality + invincible... and travling in time... because i want back 40-42 thousand years and i want to live with the first modern humans.... and live till now and then i would like to die :P

I would like to be immortal as then I would have tried to gain a godlike knowledge, and I could be some firefighter or something and save lives as being immortal - taking no risks. I know it will get boring, and I wonder what will happen the day I am the only one left on this planet. But by that time I would try to make robots with such an AI that they would act like humans or even smarter, then I could be like a god. Soon enough I could rule the universe.

I would be Immortal, going through the years. You could do heaps, knowing you can't die you could be a hero. You could start a a company, and turn it into a world wide company. You will never grow old, nor have to put up with the fears of cancer, diseases, etc. You can also learn a lot, you could make new inventions with the knowledge you build along the way, things to help humanity. There would be heaps of things you can do, all though you will be lonely, because you wouldn't want to start a family knowing you will watch them die, but the amount of good things you can do living forever.

06-14-2009, 10:13 PM
immortaleebs, considering the infinite amount of time you would be alive, all those things are extremely short-term... If all other life in the universe were to come to an end you would be alone, forever. Are you seriously willing to live through a infinite amount of absolute loneliness for a few hundred, or so, years of "good living"?

This is a very complicated subject. One one hand, you could fight for the people you think are right with no harm done to yourself. On the other, you would watch everyone around you die, unable to die yourself.

I think I would choose no. When the universe collapses in on itself after trillions and trillions of years what would happen then? You would live in constant unexplainable pain in nothingness. For all eternity.

I think i'd take death thanks.

Just to add about "watching love ones die" You have a infinite amount of time to get over it.
So get over it.

I wouldn't want to be immortal -_- don't take life too seriously... you will never get out alive.
There is just too much shit in life you have to put up with to make me think that I will have enough time. You people dreaming about immortality.. wake up... when you really think about it death is acceptable as it is inevitable.

Vourdeox is right, immortality is the ultimate loneliness, also not the mention the fact that your body will still age even though it will never stop functioning, so you would basically be living for an eternity without being able to do anything.

Every day I wish i was immortal.
As previous people have said, imagine the knowledge.
I love reading, and imagine being able to read every book that was ever written.
Majoring in all fields. Doing EVERYTHING. Watching the world evolve.
Being able to live THROUGH history. Imagine reading a textbook and saying, "haha. 300 years ago. I remember that!"

I'm an introvert so I wouldn't mind being solitary. Screw a dog, books are a mans best friend.

I don't think the human mind, is able to store information for that long, but what do I know :)?

If I could I would rather not be immortal, and then just be immune to sicknesses and have like super strenght and so on. But I wanna die eventually. :)
