"It is said that engineers take two minutes to resolve this, architects three hours, doctors six hours, and supervisors/managers ten hours"

Which is the 6th number?

1, 2, 6, 42, 1806, ______

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I resolved it on 2 minutes, and 32 seconds.
And believe me, I am not an engineerer x]
I am only 12 years old if that mathers.
What is the 6th answer?
CALCULATORS IS ALLOWED

I have done this before so I already knew.

It's a surprisingly simple algorithm, but I bet everybody on AC-Web just searches Google for the answer because they're too impatient to work it out themselves

I gots it :)

i dunno if i should post it, but it took me 1min 23secs.

Sure

You know there's nothing wrong with admitting that you couldn't work it out...

There is another way to get the number without the (n*n)+n. It's all in how you see things, and that's a clue.

SPOILER ALERT!

Took me roughly 30 seconds but then again I wasn't using any formula's. Hehe, also not trying to brag it's more than just a formula it's an IQ type thing, like those weird "can you see the pattern" type things. More of a mere fluke if you want to be honest but I still got it.

Are you aware of any possibility that you could be slightly autistic? I've always heard stories about people with autism being able to "see" numbers, which allows them to do some pretty amazing arithmetic.

Damnit, now you got me thinking I am Autistic. ARGH! lol.

I highly doubt it, but I do have slight social issues and did excellent in Math Classes when I would actually do my work. Also got a bombing score on the G.E.D. Test. ARGH, I wish I could de-rep you for giving me this horrible idea lol. JK.

I saw a pattern, if you look at it you will see it too. I don't think I magically did the algorithm sub-cautiously, although I think sub-cautiously I saw "NO CALCULATORS ALLOWS" which lead me to believe it was more of an IQ Pattern Test thing. Who knows?

Don't get too worked up over it, I have a similar talent with logic paths (programming, sequences, puzzles etc) but I'm definitely not autistic or anything like that. You and I probably just have over-active left brain hemispheres :P

Have you ever had a professional IQ test done? I had one done when I was 7 and my IQ was believed to be 145 which classified me as a "genius"... Although they've since changed the IQ classifications to be more politically correct. I think I'm now "very superior" lol. You should definitely look into getting one done if you haven't already, you can find out a fair bit about how your brain prefers to "work" and from that change the way you learn and study.

I have not had a professional IQ test done but I have taken IQ Tests on the Internet. I think timed I was at 140ish and when I resubmitted the same answers with no time it spiked to 160.

Puzzles like Sodoku and maths are awesome. I can also look at any type of code and tell exactly what it does but never quite understand how to get it to do what it does. The good is I can debug things, the bad is I can't actually create my own work. Came in real handy when adding normal Nuke scripts to Nuke Evolution, most the time it was removing what was affected but I did fix some issues.

I'm not sweating the Autistic thing, but it was kind of funny. For a minute there I was like... *.......??.....no.. I can't be... ??.... Well!!... NAH!!..... hmm*

All I do know is when I got the Results of my G.E.D. back.. some reporter came around wanting pictures. Supposedly I scored higher on that test than anyone has in the past 25 years in my area. Most people would bask in their own glory but it made me realize how dumb I really was, Long Story.

(((n*n)*1)prv(n)) Lol

Wow you made that really complicated lol! Maybe my mind is just much more simple than yours  I'll stick with my n(n+1)... Doesn't hurt my brain as much as yours!

Edit: Btw, that *1 has no purpose... Unless it's supposed to be +1?

7102385 is wrong xP

SPOILER ALERT!

1x1 +1 =2
2x2 +2 =6
6x6 +6 = 42
42x42 +42 =1806
1806x1806 +1806 = 3263442

If you don't see the pattern after this explination, something has to be wrong with you :D

Protoss7

Took me 1min 30seconds.

Since people still don't understand here's an explanation

1x1+1 = 2
2x2+2 = 6
6x6+6 = 42
42x42+42 = 1806
1806x1806+1806 = x

Ok, So if we wanted to get the next number in the sequence after 1806 (lets all the next number 'x', we take the number 1806, and call it 'n'. And do the sum 'n*n+n' ('1806*1806+1806'). After we've done that sum, the answer we would get the answer to what 'x' is.
If you wanted to get the next number after that we would do the exact same sum but with 'x' instead of 'n'. So it would be 'n*n+n'.

Ok, that's my attempt at explaining it. Sorry if it's not very clear.

I did it in 20 seconds.

Spoiler

To put it Slightly simpler than Protoss7 did its basically multiply the number by 1 more than itself. 2x3=6 6x7=42 42x43=1806 1806x1807=Answer

Dudes, you using a calculator is pretty stupid...

I solved it mentally in less than 12 seconds. Don't ask how, I can calculate in all mathematical fields that I have learned without writing anything down or using technology.

Gotta be something wrong with me...
