i was able to make a toon.. but when it finished loading it errored and died

If you are upgraded at 2.3.0 then your WoW will crash. I don't know how to fix that right now >_<

I have been noticing your connection issues.

kk. i am trying to downgrade-- but it is a pain in the arse.

do you have anylinks for windows xp for the patch i could use? i tried a version 2.2.3 wow.exe icon deal- and it found 36 of something expected 20 "version mismatch"
