This was brought up in Vent few days ago and it wasn't posted it so here it goes we were discussing how wrong it iand how lazy people are using abrevations and junk.
Rather than them using the full word they say like "F I messed something up give me a min" instead of "frick I messed something up give me a minute."
I forgot what other abrevations we were talked about but I figured I'd get this topic going.
We know it's for lazy people for starters but question is why? Why be -that- lazy and not type a simple full word.

It's kinda short and some people would get the idea of what it means/stands for, Like:
lol -- Laugh out loud
Rofl -- Roll on the Floor laughing
Kinda like that. But it's kinda different on what you're saying... maybe some people don't like typing? They just want to talk and annoy people like always.

A lot of people simply can't type fast enough to write out words in full. I type at 135wpm - faster than I can write with a pen. Other people aren't so lucky and having to write out words in full just takes too much time.
Consider this conversation:
hey wuu2
nm u?
nm lol just goin on wow
wtf i didnt know u played wow
yea i do rofl
The above conversation is 78 characters long, compared to the below version which is 211 chracters long:
Hey, what are you up to?
Not much, what about you?
Not much, *laughing out loud* just going onto World of Warcraft
What the f***, I didn't know you played World of Warcraft
Yeah I do, *rolling on the floor laughing*
It's a silly example, I know. But when you put that into context and compare a big conversation... Imagine writing out an abbreviated sentence and it takes you 10 minutes. If you had to write it out in full it would probably take about twice as long.

Isn't it arguable that this is actually an evolution of the language, since it allows people to communicate faster?

Why say frick? If you say frick or fuck your still thinking of the same word.
People who say "Fuck" are thinking in their mind "oh darn"
Not intending to say "have sexual intercourse with I messed something up give me a min"

African Americans started all this- Believe it or not- Blacks are leetspeakers. Due to laziness of pronouncing: "Potato Salad" they said "Po' Sal" And such this started it.
"Ma' I ai' ca' bo yu" = Man, I really do not care about you.
"Yo bra wut it is" Hello, my brother, how are you today?
"Stankyleg" = Do the smelly foot.
Etc..

The funniest one i remember was when a fellow afro-merican child tried to act like an intellectual in class.
White dude: "And so the Ply- Mouth citizens"
him: "Yo dew dats unpropper"
Me: "Its improper, you stupid tw*t"

Once our English professor even gave a lecture when a student was caught saying F**k that white boy.
He explained that translated to English, the African-American was saying "Man let's have sex with this white boy"
Good times.

That's nothing to do with the English language, though. It's people's accents that determine how they pronounce a word.

My friends make fun of me, because even when I text or write a note or anything dealing with language, I type or write all the words out and us punctuation and correct grammar. At least as much as I can.
