I'm sure most of you have heard of a remote desktop. It allows you to connect to your PC from anywhere in the world as if you were on it. Sometimes you just want to get simple things done on your PC at home without all the hassle of setting up and connecting to your remote desktop.
This is why I created Remote File Access (RFA).
RFA is a secure alternative to a remote desktop. Install RFA onto your PC's web server and you instantly have access to the entire PC from anywhere in the world. RFA has been in development for over a year so you can be sure it has been well tested.
Features include:
- Zip folders for easy download
- Download individual files
- Upload files
- Create, view, edit, move, copy, delete files
- Much more!
Click here to see the live preview! (http://remotefileaccess.freehostia.com)
Username: admin
Password: passw0rd
To install RFA, simply extract RFA.zip into the root folder of your web server. NOTE: RFA may not function properly if run from a subfolder.

It's a project I've been working on part-time for the last year and a bit. Started out as a simple upload/download website for when I wanted to access my home files from University. Eventually it evolved into what it is now.
I've also been working on a web-based server control panel which hopefully will be integrated into this website soon. As far as I know, if I release my web-based control panel it will be the first of its kind.

you probably already have this implemented it, but what your
generator needs is a function system that hooks into windows
to look after your maintenance while you are away.
fragmentation.
cleaning.
lag prevention.
resource management.
prevents any background program from running.
lets you see and control this info from a remote
address.
you understand the idea :)
I know you can just remotely do this, but what if your generator sent you
email's on how it is doing kept you apprized...
email system maintainace command protocol code:
example:
comp email 1: fragmentation=65% resources=50% crashes=3 restarts 10 lag=30%
user reply email code= (send motd)=system restart 5 min,,down time 20 min
(defragment)=(clean)=(restart all)=(send new stats)
comp reply=operations complete= new stats=fragmentation 1% resources 95%=lag 2% END
of course you would be immediately notified on any major problems such as crashes
This is the app I could really use and which is kind of suggested as a different
type,,not 2 hours ago in another post and that I thought would be perfect to
take care of your server when your not at home...
web based server control panel +win
web based protected storage and retrieval + win
go Prophetx........
Please post more spec's for your system's and info :)

You should try converting this in to a Application for Itunes/Apple. This could be worth $$ For transfering files to computer to touch, or touch to computer.

Interesting idea but that type of thing involves a LOT of development time which I just don't have at the moment. Plus there are quite a few competitors in that market sector - Cydia, Installer, etc.
Public release is out. PLEASE read the ReadMe very carefully to ensure that RFA is as secure as possible.

Iphone/itunes apps run on a whole different coding platform to do somthing like this he would have to redo everything not to mention tons of extra code just to get a usable interface, but if you you have a mac prophet apple gives you a free developing program to do this kind of stuff ive been messing around with it myself and its pretty interesting. But very nice job its really cool so far

Thanks Myerz and Slade, it's certainly been very useful for me. I hope that other people can find just as much use for it as I have :P
If you find any bugs or problems, please let me know straight away.
P.S. Don't forget to rep me if you can :D I'm close to PU (18 to go)!

It seems "MDJong" thought they would ruin it for everybody else and change the username/password.
All fixed now :)

Yeah that's exactly what it was intended for :) I just used it at University because it's easier than carrying a USB memory stick everywhere with me!

You could make this the new cpanel and market this to host companies

Haha RFA isn't quite as sophisticated as cpanel :P I'm glad you think it has that potential though!
