The Meaning of life (From your point)

Alot of people talk about this,
What do you think that is "The meaning of Life"
or do you think there is no meaning?
Some people think this is just a test, and others beleive Life is just meaningless.
I think life is just to have fun, do what you like but don't forget to help others. (Thats wy i dont like school, wastes my tame and spoils the fun `-.-)

Holy crap I had a mental breakdown over this a month or so ago. It happened after about 6 hours of trying to work out the point of existence. Obviously I can't post 6 hours worth of thinking so I'll try and boil it down.

I am happy as long as I know that what I am doing has a "purpose". For example, today I am going to the shops. The purpose of this is to buy food. The purpose of this is so I can eat, and so on. When you think long enough about one action, you can quite easily find out the purpose of that action, and the purpose of that purpose, but eventually the purpose becomes "existence". Let me show you how, with the shops example again. Each new line is the purpose of the one above.

Go to the shops
Get food
So I can eat
So I can exist
...

So the reason I had this mental breakdown was because I couldn't find a purpose for existing. I actually had to seek professional help to stop myself from going insane (I'm not joking). My mother was actually the one who helped me find myself again by introducing me to the theory of Existentialism (read: Existentialism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existentialism))

In the end I was still unable to find the purpose of my existence, but I do feel a lot better about the "lack of purpose" after learning about Existentialism.

Sorry, I still never really answered this post. From my many hours of thinking and research, my opinion is that life has no meaning. Our existence is pointless. :) Pretty glum, huh?!

well, the meaning of life is a long asked question.

i remember a quote long ago, not too sure if this is related, "I think, therefore, i'am"-anonymous.

this topic goes hand in hand with religion.

religious version- basically, if there was a god, i think the purpose of life was a testing ground. our "Lord" would place us here and see what kind of person we will become and if he should spare us from eternal damnation.

Non-Religious version- basically, if there was no god, the purpose of life would be too live. it would not to "help" others or lead a nation. our primal instincts would kick in and we would not care about wealth, drugs, music. we would care about surviving.

My purpose/view in life- basically, my view of life is this. we are here for a very short time, compared to non-living things. and, once we leave, there is no coming back! you will spend eternity in the ground with no thoughts running through your head. so, screw all the "limits/Regulations" that are in front of you. live your life, instead of reading posts on ac-web all day ;P

I think that the meaning of live is to gain experience to prepare yourself for the after live(heaven). Think about it like a school where you learn about live and gain experience. When you graduate then you will enter the after live. But if someone commits suicide, he/she have then run away from school and maybe just start the after live after that. I of course believe that everybody should have a lot of fun in live and not ruin other people lives(like murdering, making other suffer and other things that ruin peoples lives). People should let other people enjoy live too. I think that if people follow the rules from the "Ten Commandments", that will prevent them from ruining other peoples lives or your own live.

Ok guys, after reading posts before, people seem to be sticking to their reasoning, and being to stubborn to move from it. So when you read mine, forget about your opinions, then once you've read it in an open minded sense, comment on it.


Well, let's start by saying. The most common / popular theory between scientists, is that the Big Bang created the earth. The Big Bang has been proven to have happened, while God has not proof of existence. For that reason, I believe that the Big Bang created the world.

Ok, it's also a common concept that during the Big Bang, many animals were formed. This - like the creation of the world - happened by a freak coincidence, we here on about a 1/1,000,000,000 chance.
Anyway, when the star that caused the Big Bang happened, all the atoms from that start were thrown around, and it just so happened that some of them made life.
Of course, since it was by chance we were made, we couldn't have been perfectly suited to the environment of the earth, and many animals got made extinct before they started. But animals that were suited to hot environments, did survive the creation periods. These animals then slowly over millions of years adapted to survive better. After many millions of years, animals finally adapted to create us. This animal is thought to be Ape's.


Ok, that's the theory on it all I believe, and explained for those who don't know about any part of it.
If you still don't think any of that's right, after taking an open minded approach to it, fine.

I think that your brain is a temporary device to link your soul to your body, but at the same time, has it's own memories, personality etc. that are lost when you die.

I wrote about my beliefs in the beliefs thread, I explain a bit of what I believe about death and the astral library, this is where you chose a new body, or you can choose to be a soulmate for somebody who is alive, where you basically help them with their life.

By chance, Planet Earth was placed so accurately that life was made. After millions yearsd of reproudicing we get humans.
