Yeah so over hyped though don't get me wrong im not a Halo hater I stayed up till midnight for Halo 1 then got collectors edition of Halo 2 then hit rank 19 before the ranks got upped to 50 then 42 after they did so i am a real hardcore Halo fan but now im not really impressed with what Ive seen of Halo 3 so i didn't preorder... might rent it eventually to see if it is any good though

I was always impressed with the tactical AI of the 'mobs' in halo 1 and 2. Moreso with 2, obviously.

Aside from that, its just another FPS online, to me.
Nothing too special, I thought they handled the story/ending of 2 really really shitty and half-assed, ESPECIALLY after it's hype.

But I pre-ordered it for my little bro, who's starting his freshman year of college, so I'm sure he'll be presently surprised by what's sitting in his dorm mailbox pretty soon. :P

Me, I'm not a fan of anything in the game other than what I've mentioned.

Shitbox 360 is a waiste of money. The only reason to buy one, and i mean ONLY reason, is halo 3. But, as its still not enough of a reason for me, I'll stick with Darkness, Warhawk, Home, GTA4, Gran Turismo, MGS4 and Assaisns Creed on my PS3,

Halo brings nothing new and inventive to any of the gaming tables. End of story. The replay value is only high because of the sheer power of Microsuck's marketing team (which is basically a vortex of cash and media control) and the huge player base that halo has.

let's look at all the great features halo has that no other fps or multiplayer fps has.

Graphics-

case in point, Gears of War. I don't care what console it's on, Gears of war makes halo look like a children's game. Drawn in a notebook. And Halo's level geometry is a joke. It's just huge, to cover the severely LAX amount of detail.

Controls
No, no, no...the only thing wrong with any game's controls is that it's not one of the most streamlined and copied designs ever...the Playstation controller....ever wonder why the newer playstation controllers always had the same look and feel, unlike xbox which has like four 'disctinct' models? BECAUSE microsuck can't get it right, there's already a staple in design, it's name is sony.

can you have fun playing it? sure...is it worth all it's hype and respect? no, it's not original at all. Bungie farted out halo 2, and it did wonderful based simply on the fact that halo 1 already locked in a huge as fuck player community.



as for the xbox. it could cook eggs on it's case faster than you could say "oh shit, what's the red light mean again?"



with all that said, pS3 has it's down points. like the online stuff. All of it sucks. And the price is no where near reflective of what it's got bundled in it...who the hell NEEDS all that advanced drive shit? you dont.

Halo 3 has a pretty good story after playing through it, in a genre that is flooded with games only touting multiplayer hooplah it is refreshing to play a good story driven game. I used to love games like x-wing for the PC with a story that kept you playing.
