So, you wanna start a website? Its actually pretty simple but before you go buying things you have to think about a few things first.

1) Whats your domain name going to be? Is it taken?
2) What is your website going to be about?
3) What is going to be the main feature of your website?

When you have thought about those things, you need to find a good web host. A host is a company that will give you some space on there server for your website. You can find some good hosts just by browsing google, but before you pick one, make sure you have compared it to other hosts.

Also, you might want to take in some considerations when choosing a host, such as:

1) Am i getting a good deal?
2) Does it have MySQL?
3) Does it have PHP?

MySQL and PHP are required if you wish to put a forum on your website. A forum is a community were people can make topics and posts about subjects, such as this site.

When you have found a good host, you need to find a template for your website, or if its a forum, the forum software you wish to use. Clantemplates (http://www.clantemplates.com) is a good site for gaming templates, also, its free.

If you are making a forum, you need to decide which forum software you want to use. There are 3 popular choices:

1) Vbulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/) - vBulletin is a widely used forum software which is very popular, it has many features and a lot of add ons, on the downside it is quite expensive for a license.

2) IPB (http://www.invisionboard.com/) (Invision Power Board) - This is also a popular choice, but again it is quite expensive.

3) PHPBB (http://www.phpbb.com/) - PHPBB is free software which you can easily download and install. On the downside, it has less features than the other two.

When you have sorted out your template or forum, you need to put some content on your website. Content will be related to the websites overall theme.

When you have some decent content, you need to advertise your site. You can pay for advertisement or find places to advertise free. I hope this guide has helped you, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Awesome Jargs, thanks for putting this together. I'm personally checking out the website that came with the ac-web repack. Where can I ask questions/support for that?
