Hi all, I have packed for myself (mostly for writing wow addons in peace and with ease of control) from scratch the very latest builds of Ascent + AscentDB and Mangos + UnifiedDB, if you would like to experience the very very latest developers changes with the most unmodified packages available for download you found the right thread and bookmark it. I will update regulary the thread with the very lastest components released, probably not for life hehe but at least as long I have time playing Wow on official servers and developing addons on my own server. I have made theses packages because I was unable to find out clean small packs including only the minimal things to have a blizzard like server without bunch of custom modifications or DB with joomla blogs websites (I guess some packagers don't even know they are distributing their website database with the package OLOL!) I do not claim something all credits goes to the developers, I'm just doing the fastidious work to brought you all this like if you were on the final stage of compiling yours from scratch.

INSTALLATION:

(I will assume you unpack Mangos to c:\Mangos in this example and have WoW
installed in c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)

0x01) UNPACK the package where you want, let's it go to c:\Mangos for the sample
0x02) COPY c:\Mangos\extras\map_extractor\ad.exe & c:\Mangos\extras\map_extractor\ad.bat
to the base of your WoW dir c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\
0x03) RUN c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\ad.bat and wait a few minutes
0x04) MOVE the newly created folder c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\maps to
c:\Mangos\maps
0x05) DELETE c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\ad.exe &

0x06) COPY all files in c:\Mangos\extras\MPQE\* to
c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\* ("enUS" may change, adapt it to

0x0A) COPY all files in c:\Mangos\extras\vmap_extract_assembler_bin\* to
c:\Mangos\Vmap\* (create the folder manually, it shouldn't exist)
0x0B) RUN c:\Mangos\Vmap\makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat and go for a coffee, it may take up to
30min or more.
0x0C) MOVE the newly created folder c:\Mangos\Vmap\vmaps to c:\Mangos\vmaps
0x0D) DELETE c:\Mangos\Vmap (pay attention to delete Vmap and not vmaps!)
0x0E) RENAME c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\realmlist.wtf to
c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\realmlist.wtf.backup
0x0F) COPY c:\Mangos\extras\realmlist.wtf to
c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\realmlist.wtf (you will login on your localhost
instead of blizzard's servers)
0x10) WOWADDON (optional) included in c:\Mangos\extras\mangadmin for much ease of
administration ingame, you install like an usual ingame addon you know how,
enjoy :)

That's all folk! To launch the server just run 1-mysql.bat, 2-realmd.bat,
3-mangosd.bat and leave them opened
4-backup.bat is an optional script to backup/restore the characters/accounts,
if you are updating regulary it saves time

Hi sharkie honestly both have good/bad. What I find good with Mangos is that I find it less buggued on the spell side, haven't check all spells anyway but Im coding a hunter's addon and Trap's spells for example under Ascent +AscentDB are really shnizzleed up, almost all traps arent working perfectly, but under Mangos for example Traps are working perfectly, the only behaviour I have found under Mangos was when you choose 2/2 the trap skill, it does not enhance the Gobal Trap cooldown from 1Min to 1min30, it just count it at 1Min with or without the skill enhancement.

Else some are saying Ascent is probably much adapated for a Public uses(supposed to eat less ressources) however locally I haven't noticed this.

Also the big space difference is that once Ascent + ADB + maps in the folder, it takes around 1-1,5GB where Mongos is much heavy using 3-3,5GB

But Mangos looks very good to me locally, I'm much coding on it theses days and also because Ascent has gone underground so do not expect Ascent updates so regulary now however I think AscentDB will stay public so the Ascent world may still be updated.

Btw if you would like to test Mangos wait a fex minutes I'm uploading the last rev 5747.

Class101, I have been using Howlings repack and other acsent servers. Never tried Mangos type. Doing the setup for yours now. I'm mainly using private server for simple fun and exploring and quests. I like the idea of having everything best and doing all quests in game for fun... Currently working on the AQ line to persay open the gates and get the Legendary scarab mount and Scarab lord title, don't know if its possible, but doing it for fun anyways. Only problem is, I get stuck at the part where you need to talk to Vaelstraz, but I can't because hes not scrippted right or something, He's just hostile whole time, not friendly laying down and nefarians not in the front of him, I think its the instance scripting thats wrong, because can't even do the the first boss Razorgore, can't start the orb controling ect.. I also noticed in ascent you can't open items like quest items well most, like operate orb in the first fight etc...

Hoping this pack will be different. and will be basically identical to the real servers as you say. I'll give my personal feedback after I experience it later.

Buggs found so far
-Mangos Vendors arn't accesable, they all have the Hearthstone icon on them and dont have option to buy/sell
-Ascent is just oppsiste vendors work, trainers don't
-Scripting in instances wrong, such as blackwing lair, bosses jsut stand there, mobs all spawned in certain fights etc

I prefer mangos (Reaper-X repack), since the mobs can be altered from the config file. BTW, if your seeing that dragon guy hostile, you should check to make sure you're not at war with him. I thought the quest was bugged, too, until I looked.

And so please do not report bugs HERE with the emulators, they are and you should take them as betas but if you still have questions follow the link to the dev websites that I have posted in readme.txt, I can just do something if you have a bug on installing this present compilation but anything else goes to the devs because I did not modify their works at all and if there is bugs ingame, they most likely made it and you should help them to identify and fixe it quickly, else without, you can expect it wont never be fixed.

Mangos is updated everydays so you can expect patches comming fastly.

finally found that bug on shattrath, I will look at if rebuilding the sql db from scratch is fixing something because it could be a wrong daily patch (they are badly wrote sometimes) that broke something and maybe rebuilding the db to the current version instead of using the old with daily patches could maybe fixe that prob, I can see only that because this looks like a sql db bug, I will look at this and let you know if that was a db update problem nor if this is an actual bug confirmed.

good news ravenwind, I have done a full rebuild of the world db from big updates files to avoid small daily patch files and looks like the behaviour is gone :) I'm fixing the release to the last version and Mangos must be far must stable on a release superior to the actual 5833 I have posted, will post updates in a few minutes, I guess this was a very small SQL bug because as you will see the sql database hasn't changed in size but my knowledge on sql and mangos isn't enough good to find and fixe which updates has been causing this.

I guess you do not have some windows lib installed like MS framework etc or you can try to find another tool to extract DBC files, MPQE.exe is a third party software that does not belong to ascent nor mangos, I included it because it works fine for both, you will have to find another DBC extractor or to use the one Mangos provides but thats not up to me, too lazy to search what is not good for you when it works for everyone else. Good luck.

the reason for those errors is because the maps you compiled from your wow directory do not match the version of the database you are running. Unfortunately i dont know which version of udb matches with which version of wow
