Hey guys, just a friendly update on our new policy, anyone I see flaming (intentionally insulting/using abusive language towards another member of the site) will receive a 2 day ban. Repeat offenders will receive further punishments.

Lets keep things peaceful :)

Thanks

Jargs

So you're going to ban 80% of AC-Web?

Guys, make sure to report flamers. For a while now the whole community has grown to leaving things unnoticed. However, if you want change, it's easy - but you must provide us with your support.

Understand the rules, report, and stay out of the deep end (that includes promoting violations).

It requires little, but helps a lot.

If you guys are serious about cutting the amount of flaming down then i hope you got the muscle to back it.

i.e. more mods!

So you're going to ban 80% of AC-Web?

More like 99%.

Whether or not anyone wants to accept it, flaming some imbeciles actually helps. When everyone who flames people for them being a dumbass is banned, there will be an overwhelming number of people with 3 posts flooding support with terribad grammar, spelling and overall English skills wanting help on stupid things that they could Google for, and no one will help them, because every intelligent person was banned or just up and left, thus the website will be full of retards and things only go downhill from there.

So please, ban the flamers, it's the same as getting onto a shortbus and promising all the retards all the chocolate milk they can drink and an endless supply of crayons and coloring books. It's also kind of like masturbation, it seems like a good idea at the time, but in the end you're only fucking yourself.

Better read this while you can, my posts get deleted because people don't like my opinions.

This is a sad reality. I wouldn't mind having an equal rule that bans people for not using proper English.

So you're going to ban 80% of AC-Web?

If 80% of AC-Web flames, yes.

Is it just me or is banning a vast majority of your active users just a tad counterproductive?

Jargs
12-03-2010, 10:09 AM
If the vast majority are flamers, they are not welcome here. :)

So either people start to respect each other a little bit more or they can feel free to leave. :)

2 days? Hm..

Indeed.

Repeat offenders will receive further punishments.

Sure, they aren't welcome, but my point in my first post remains valid. Ban the flamers, you welcome the scum of the Internet right on in the front door, would you rather have people bickering amongst each other as happens everywhere on this planet every second of every day, or would you rather have a dead forum with an average IQ of 1.7 on a good day?

Although to be honest I'm still a little confused as to why this issue is now arising after 3 1/2 like it's all of the sudden a massive problem that needs to be dealt with like Smallpox or the Bubonic Plague. One admin who's not on but a few hours every day, give or take and one moderator who's perception of ideal conduct rivals that of a third world communist country will either do no damage at all, or do so much damage in their quest for good it effectively unravels every thread of success this website has achieved since May 2007.

Flamers on ac-web is only like 20%

As people wich flame you remember, people wich just reply you read and you forget.

Flamer on this forums are only like 20%

But ac-web got one of the most active Server listings and a active release and tut forum.

Don't flame or go.

Bump Jargs :)

Don't count on it, Jargs can ban them but determined people will come back and pick up where they left off.

If you don't like it, you're welcome to leave.

My name isn't gray and I don't have a super awesome special user title yet, not my problem. Although I am actually curious as to why this is just now being enforced, but for the record I disagree with the manner in which it is being enforced. More (as in additional) intelligent moderators to clean the board would be better than just banning the people. You ban people you drive them away and that's bad for business.

Take myself for example, if you were to perma-ban me I'd be gone for good, despite my love of setting idiots straight by use of profane and offensive language, I do actually possess skills to release something useful or teach people something useful even if I don't really post those types of threads, you have lost someone who can actually help the website if he refrained from posting when an overwhelming urge to call someone out comes over me.

Your desire for reform is respectable, albeit misplaced.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. :)

Syke

Indeed, although my inquiries as as of yet unanswered. My questions weren't rhetorical or an attempt to troll, I was actually trying to spark a legitimate discussion. I am capable of normal conversations where I don't go off half-cocked because someone said something I didn't agree with. ;)

One thing you should do Jargs:

1) Recruit more mods
2) Make every tutorial/release section that they have to be approved by a mod so we don't have fucking list of support threads in there!

No, we don't need more mods. No, we don't need to 'approval check' the releases sections. We need you guys to learn to behave.

This thread is Jargs's approach. It's about time behaviour gets a definition.
[This] (http://ac-web.org/forums/showthread.php?t=104733) is my approach. You can now earn your ranks not only in bringing World of Warcraft material, but also in collaborating to support the community's regulations.

I wish for you to report what you see, but also give you the opportunity to rewarding your commitment and support.

Yes, but one more moderator if well picked, would be a plus for the moderation.

You hate them for a reason. They flame you, because they don't find you intelligent enought to post here.

I did not intend to offend you. However if I did, sorry.
